as the girls grow older, they get more and more work piled onto them for the sake of keeping them tired. buttercup convinces her sisters so go on strike, and stay that way. because they’re not protecting the city, the government decides that they’re too dangerous, and wants to put them down. the powerpuffs and the professor go into hiding.

▍ ❝   cynical.
like many times before, the professor was manipulated into killing his daughters. unlike previous times, he was likely to succeed. terrified and trying to protect her sisters, buttercup kills her father. she had nightmares about this; she knew she'd be the one to do it, if it came down to it. she doesn't ever want her sisters to live with the grief. she still hates herself for it.

▍ ❝   the blip.
when the avengers failed to stop thanos, the powerpuff girls lost a lot of villains. they even lost the mayor. it made their lives so much easier. but they lost the professor. they lost bellum. in the absence of so much weight, the powerpuff girls are free to leave townsville to help other planets experiencing the same thing. four years later, everything came back, leaving buttercup more bitter about the freedom she'd lost, and guilty for thinking about it when she had her dad back.

buttercup's years of irreverent behavior have finally caught up with her. tired of her ignoring the hotline, occasionally going missing, growing increasingly violent and destructive, the mayor pulls strings to lure another hero into townsville. promised plenty of money, john stewart moves to the city as its senior architect, with the knowledge that should the powerpuff girls go rogue, he would be the one tasked with stopping them.single ship with @emeraldbuilt

butch and buttercup have been dating for about a three, more or less. at first, they were secretive about it, but as they grew more comfortable with each other, they stop caring who knows. blossom, on the other hand, has kept her relationship with brick secret for two, though she wasn't fooling anyone. she only admitted to the relationship when trying to tell her sisters that she's pregnant. buttercup doesn't give a damn about the relationship, but the pregnancy terrifies her.#👊 ;; ᵘˡᵗʳᵃ ˢᵘᵖᵉʳ ᵖᵒʷᵉʳᵉᵈ ( universe i )

▍ ❝   dying slow.
in an attempt to control a berserk attack caused by the stress of planning an oversized wedding, blossom, bubbles, brick, and boomer accidentally kill butch. buttercup’s grief takes over and she nearly destroys her older brother jojo’s home in an attempt to get him to bring butch back. despite their best attempts, they can’t bring butch back. this is the straw that breaks the camel’s back, piled on top of all the abuse she and her sisters have been taking from townsville since they were created. buttercup gets distant and stops being a powerpuff.#👊 ;; ᵈʸᶤᶰᵍ ˢˡᵒʷ ( universe iv )

when buttercup was twelve years old, her older brother formed a supervillain group called the beat alls. their plots and schemes couldn't be stopped, no matter how hard the girls tried. then, jojo met a conartist named michelle janish, alias, moko jono. after putting a wedge between jojo, his sisters, and his evil team, michelle left — without telling anyone that she was pregnant. almost eight years later, michelle leaves her daughter on jojo's doorstep. buttercup steps in to try and help her brother raise this child, despite not really liking children.#👊 ;; ʸᵒᵘ ᵍᵉᵗ ᵃ ˡᶦᵗᵗˡᵉ ᶜᵒˡᵈᵉʳ ( verse vi )
